“129 Lives Lost: Devastating Quake Rocks Nepal

A major earthquake struck the nation of Nepal on Saturday April 25, bringing death and destruction to the region. With a magnitude of 7.9, the quake caused many homes to be destroyed while also killing at least 129 people and injuring over 1,000 more. Nepal’s government has requested aid from other nations and the United Nations has sent a team of experts to assist in the rescue effort. Relief workers hope to locate as many survivors as possible and provide them with medical aid and shelter. In the days and weeks following the quake, these workers will set up shelters and accommodations in Kathmandu and other parts of the country for the thousands of survivors who lost their homes in the disaster. Nepal is prone to earthquakes due to its location on a major fault line, and this tragedy serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with these natural disasters.
