Uncovering Newsom’s Past Connections to Hunter Biden: ‘Here’s My Direct Email’

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been in the news recently for vocally defending his long-standing personal and financial ties to Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden. This came to public attention after a lengthy article by the Los Angeles Times detailed further evidence of the business relationship between the two. The article claims that the relationship between the Newsom family and Hunter Biden dates back to his childhood years, when his lawyer-father, Ronald, and Hunter’s future father-in-law, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, were on the same basketball team. Furthermore, it was revealed that Newsom had co-signed a lease for a home in a gated Los Angeles community in 2006 while Mr. Biden worked at hedge fund Burisma. When questioned about the relationship, Newsom stated that “We’ve known Hunter a long time” and that he was “proud to call him a friend.” As the article notes, this isn’t the first time that Newsom has had to defend his relationship with the Bidens. Last year, he wrote a letter to the IRS on the family’s behalf, after they had been audited for potential business fraud. The article also revealed a direct email from Newsom to Hunter and his wife, which read, “I wanted to connect directly so that I could express my sincere condolences on your father’s passing, and to share with you how very proud and honored I am to count you and your family as friends.” He signed off the email with, “love always.” Newsom has long been known for his support of the Biden family, and though this article didn’t bring any new facts to light, it did clearly demonstrate how close the friendship is between the Newsom and Biden families. Moreover, the article appears to suggest that Newsom’s long-standing business and personal ties with Hunter Biden may have been a factor in his decision to publicly defend their relationship.
