“Tsunami Alert: West Japan Rocks and Rolls From Huge Earthquake!

Today, Western Japan was hit with a massive earthquake that was felt across multiple prefectures in the region. The Japan Meteorological Agency preliminary stated that the earthquake had a magnitude 7.1. Soon after the seismic activity, the agency also issued tsunami warnings to the affected areas. The earthquake struck at 10:22 local time with its epicenter located near the city of Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture. The quake was felt across a wide area of the Chūbu Region in the nation and lasted roughly three minutes. The JMA said that the quake had a maximum seismic intensity of 6 on the Japanese seismic scale. Fortunately, no damage and no casualties were reported from the seism. However, the tsunami warnings prompted people to evacuate their homes and move to higher terrain as a precautionary measure. According to the latest reports, the waves generated by the quake were just 0.2 meters. As of now, the meteorological agency is monitoring the situation across the region and have recommended people to remain away from any coastal areas if they haven’t already evacuated. Additionally, the JMA also warned of an aftershock, although the intensity of the aftershock could be much smaller than the original quake. The Japanese government and the authorities in the affected prefectures are currently assessing the situation and have asked all the citizens to stay focused on the news and follow any official instructions. In a bid to show support for the affected people, many companies and charitable institutions have started to donate funds to help relief efforts. Additionally, several politicians and celebrities have come forward to express their condolences for all the people who had to go through the natural disaster. While earthquakes are not uncommon in Japan, it is nevertheless worrying when a massive earthquake of such intensity strikes. Experts believe that it only highlights the need for more adequate safety protocols and precautions across the country. One can only hope that Japan gets through this difficult ordeal and that the waves of the tsunami that followed don’t cause any more damage or casualties. Hopefully, the Japanese people will be able to get back to normalcy under the watchful eye of the authorities soon.
