“Beware! Over 5 Million Blenders Recalled: Fire & Laceration Risks Lurking!

More than 5 million blenders sold across big retail stores have been recently recalled due to a potential fire and laceration hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced the voluntary nationwide recall of Ninja Professional Blenders, Model number BL660, sold at big stores like Costco, Target, and Walmart from March 2011 through August 2020. The reason for the recall is due to the fact that the blender poses a laceration risk if the blade on the blender loosens and detaches. The CPSC also notes that they have received 69 reports of incidents that allegedly involve the detaching blades, including nine reports of laceration injuries. Additionally, the agency has received 398 reports of smoking, sparks, and burning odors allegedly caused by a motor issue. The Ninja Professional BL660 Blender is a bulky, black device with a gray lid, a motor base that is gray with black accents, and a white cup with a gray lid. The model number is printed on its bottom. These items were sold from March 2011 through August 2020 for around $100. Consumers are urged to immediately stop using them and to contact Ninja for a free replacement lid. The company is offering all affected customers free shipping of the replacement lid, as well as a free 10-year extended warranty. The CPSC reminds consumers to be aware of all safety warnings when it comes to using kitchen appliances. For more information, you can visit the CPSC’s website here.
