“Confirmed by Senate: Get to Know Biden’s Judges!

The United States Senate recently confirmed the nomination of President Joe Biden’s slate of judges, including some highly qualified individuals who reflect the diverse population of America. These nominees, who were appointed to the federal bench, are an impressive group of lawyers and jurists with impressive academic backgrounds, extensive experience, and impressive credentials. The group of individuals who were confirmed includes Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, who was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. She is the first South Asian-American to serve in a seat of the federal judiciary in Connecticut and the only South Asian-American appointed so far this year. Wilcox is a managing partner in the Law Firm of Wilcox & Associates, LLC and a past president of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. Stephanie A. Gallagher, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, is a former prosecutor and a civil litigator. A veteran trial lawyer, Gallagher has represented clients in a broad range of civil rights, employment discrimination, and business litigation issues. She also performed pro bono work for victims of domestic violence and abuse. In addition, Scott Martin Rash, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, is a prominent lawyer and a partner at the law firm of Miller & Chevalier. He has extensive experience in white-collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation matters. The United States Senate also confirmed the appointment of Mae Amandina D’Agostino, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. D’Agostino has served as both a state and federal prosecutor and is currently a partner at a law firm in Albany, New York. She is well known for her work on complex criminal and civil cases, including cases involving false claims, quid pro quo arrangements, and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The Senate also confirmed Zabdiel Adams, Jr., who was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Adams is a longtime public servant who most recently served in the South Carolina Attorney General’s office. He has experience in both state and federal courts and is a former chair of the South Carolina Bar Association’s Civil Rights Committee. Overall, the Biden Administration has appointed a highly qualified and diverse slate of candidates for the federal bench. These individuals bring impressive qualifications to their jobs, including strong academic backgrounds, extensive legal experience, and exemplary records.
