“Wanted By California! Hunter Biden Facing Tax Evasion Charges

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has been officially indicted on federal tax evasion charges in California. The charges come after an investigation was launched into Hunter and his business partner by the Department of Justice last year. The indictment, which was issued by a grand jury in California, Thursday, alleges that the pair had “conspired to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and evade hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal taxes” for the year 2017. The grand jury also alleges that Hunter had failed to report more than $400,000 in income from his business partner in that year. The indictment states that Hunter had failed to file federal income tax returns for the years 2012 to 2016 and for the 2017 year failed to pay taxes on more than $400,000 of income he received from his partner. It goes on to say that both Hunter and his business partner “knowingly and willfully conspired to defraud the United States and the Internal Revenue Service by impeding, impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful governmental functions of the IRS in the ascertainment, computation, assessment and collection of federal income taxes.” This news comes at a time when the Biden administration is dealing with a number of other issues, such as the pandemic, the economic recovery, and the attempted coup in the US Capitol. It also adds more scrutiny to the Biden family on how they manage their finances, with Hunter’s federal tax evasion charges coming just after the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, was recently investigated by the SEC for potential insider trading. The Biden administration has yet to comment on the latest charges against Hunter, but White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement that, “Taxes are a personal matter and we don’t have any comment on them. We take any accusation of tax evasion seriously, however, and believe that all Americans have a responsibility to comply with the law.” It remains to be seen whether this latest development will have any implications on the Biden administration or Hunter himself. However, it is clear that no one is above the law and that the Department of Justice is committed to making sure all federal taxes are paid in full.
